Who We Are and What We Stand For

Akyla Farms is located in LaConner and Sedro-Woolley. We started this farm to provide pasture raised chicken, pork, beef and goat from livestock that has never been fed animal byproducts or industry waste. The beef and goat will also never be fed grain to maximize the health benefits of conjugated linoleic acid and omega-3 fatty acids. All of the animals have a healthy, clean contented life. Although we are not certified organic, our animals will not get drugs in their food but if one is sick or injured we will use the appropriate amount of medications to return it to a healthy, clean contented life. If you are interested in learning more about our local, family farm please feel free to contact us.

Newsletter

The World is a Changin'

This is our third annual newsletter it has information on what we have to offer along with other information from the farm.

Due to a loss of responsibility there has been numerous recalls hitting the news in the past several years. For many people this has shaken their confidence in the food system. We see the same loss of responsibility hitting the economy and on a personal note, peoples health. Responsibility needs to start somewhere and the place should be in our homes and communities. more

Poultry & Pork

Eggs: We have Chicken, Duck (great for baking), and Goose (great for pancakes). Sold on the farm, call for availibility and to arrange pickup.

No longer avaible this year. Taking preorders for 2010.

Pastured Poultry: These birds are moved daily to fresh pasture and are provided a poultry grain product with no chemicals along with their all natural diet that they pick up as they hunt and scratch in ample sunlight. We decided to not go with the industry standard breed and chose Fredom Rangers for their large size, healthiness, willingness to move and overall stronger bird. Being pasture based these birds will be more flavorful and healthier for you to consume.

Sold out. Taking preorders for 2010.

Pastured Pork: Pigs that are allowed to be pigs, rooting in the dirt and making wallows to cool off in the summer heat. They are fed an all grain diet while in a moveable fence encircling grass and brush. By being on 'pasture' they produce a more flavorful and darker meat.

Features/Benefits
Cleaner processing, openness of product information, supporting small family farm, consuming a healthier product from an animal that is fed healthier as you are what you eat and what your food eats.

Life Cycles/Seasonality
Grass-based livestock production is in the rapid growth area. We will be increasing production as we are able to and still keep up the quality.

As grass is seasonal so are our products. In order to provide the best quality/eating experience our stock are slaughtered on their timeline.
